Petit Saint Sebastian

$550.00
sold out

Saint Sebastian is one of those saints that everyone knows. He was painted incredibly often, because it gave artists a chance to depict the nude male body in a socially appropriate way. My image of Saint Sebastian features a sky that graduates from deep blue, to vibrant reds and yellows. Saint Sebastian is tied to a dead, branchless tree, giving the scene a heightened sense of drama and agony.

This medallion shape is inspired by Bethlehemite friars badges, which are unframed and contain eyelets for sewing onto your garment of choice, or simply to hang on a wall.

Dimensions:

2 3/4” x 2 1/4”
